I learned that Andrea first had the hots for me back in 2020 when she conveniently left her water bottle at my house after a game night with some of my friends. She says it was truly an “accident,” but I know that she’s much smarter and more clever than that.We started dating, fell in love, and quickly decided to get married.Okay, maybe that’s not exactly true.Three years after our initial dating stint, Andrea came back into my life, first as a friend, and then by suggesting we give it another run.I let her know that I was the same flawed, confused, and unnecessarily complicated man, but I figured if she was up for the challenge, then I would be too!But fast-forward to 6 years since we met, after numerous dates, card games, travels, and both fun and hard conversations - and me forcing her to listen to many podcasts and YouTube videos - here we are more confident in each other than we could ever be.I love this girl so much and everything about her. How did I get so lucky? Before I met her, I did not realize there could be someone as beautiful, smart, funny, career-oriented, and sporty, who would date a loser (mostly kidding) like me, but I’m darn lucky that one exists.We’ve gone to South Africa, Portugal, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Hawaii, and all over the U.S.We’ve skied, hiked, run, and biked. Been to numerous weddings, concerts, sporting events, and family reunions. I’ve been taken care of and felt overall loved by this amazing girl.I will do my best to make her forever feel just as lucky.

Eric's Point of View...

In 2020, my friend Ansley invited me to a party and said that I should try and meet a guy named Eric Hedberg while I was there. Turns out, she told him something similar. I don’t remember much about meeting Eric that night, but the next day he texted me that I had left my water bottle with him, which led to us meeting up at Memorial Park and going for a (very slow) three-mile run together.We began to see more of each other over the next couple months. I remember being impressed that I found someone even more social and extroverted than I was.(We can skip past through the part where two months later, I got cold feet and called things off with Eric at a Sonic (this will matter at the end)).Fall of 2022, I start running into Eric again through mutual friends and wonder, “hmmm why did that end?” I started to find excuses to be in the same places as Eric, the most notable of which was the night of Eric’s New Year’s Eve party where I stayed until 4:00 AM helping him clean his house. As I was leaving he said, “I’m so glad we’re friends again!” Just what every girl wants to hear. I told him I wasn’t there just to be his friend. 😉From there, we began spending more and more time together, months that turned into years. Our relationship has been full of fun: meeting each other’s friends and families, becoming travel companions and road trip warriors, playing countless card games (I’m winning, for the record), walking Houston’s trails and parks, cooking dinners together, and enjoying movie nights (where I watch the movie and Eric falls asleep on the couch).Our friendship continued to grow as did our love for each other. In Eric I saw a man who was an incredible listener, a deep thinker, and a loyal friend. I knew I never got tired of being around Eric (even despite his boy-ish tendencies of spilling food or losing things).Anyone who knows our story knows it had its twists, turns, and moments of hesitation. There were plenty of questions, a lot of uncertainty, and many prayers about what the future would hold. But in God’s timing, we both arrived at a place of peace and clarity. Looking back, we are so grateful for every part of our story, because it led us to the love, joy, and peace we have now.So, it was March 20th, 2026 when Eric gave me the very best birthday gift in the world by asking me to be his wife. He surprised me with family and friends in town to celebrate.Before taking me to our surprise engagement party, Eric drove us to Sonic, where we got to pay homage to that place I told my FUTURE HUSBAND in 2020 that I “didn’t see this going anywhere.”I’m so glad it went somewhere 😊

While we don’t have a group rate here, we also recommend Hotel ZaZa Houston Museum District for a more boutique stay. Located in a beautiful part of the city and about a 6-minute walk from our Wedding Reception, it’s a great option for those looking for something a bit more unique. The hotel also offers a complimentary car service within the nearby area, which can be helpful for getting to and from events. Rooms start at $330 per night.

Other Lodging Options

Houston has plenty of great lodging options. Airbnb and VRBO can be especially good choices if you’re traveling with a group or want a bit more space for the weekend. We recommend looking in the following areas:Downtown Houston – There are dozens of hotels across all price points and hotel brands, if you don't fancy the hotels we have group rates at. Downtown is the most central option and is conveniently located for all of our wedding weekend events. Note that while Downtown Houston is urban and easy for getting around, it is not necessarily the main highlight of the city compared to what one might expect when they think of a "downtown."The Museum District – A beautiful, park-filled area home to many of Houston’s museums and green spaces. Our wedding day will take place in The Museum District at McGovern Centennial Gardens.The Heights – A charming, walkable, more residential area with great restaurants, coffee shops, and a slightly more local, laid-back feel. It is also Eric's neighborhood and the location of our New Year's Eve Party!The Galleria – A bustling area known for luxury shopping, dining, and a wide range of hotel options. All of these areas are a convenient Uber ride to our events, so you really can’t go wrong!

Flying to Houston

If you’re flying in, Houston has two convenient airport options. George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is the primary airport for most major airlines and offers the widest range of flight options.William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is a great option if you’re flying Southwest Airlines, as it primarily operates out of this airport. Both airports are about 20–35 minutes from central Houston, depending on traffic, and Uber and Lyft are readily available from each.

Getting Around Houston

Houston is a big city, but getting around for our wedding weekend should be easy.For most guests, we recommend using Uber or Lyft. Our events and hotel blocks will all be within 20 minutes from one another, and rideshare is widely available and convenient—especially for evenings when you don’t want to worry about driving or parking.If you’re planning to explore more of Houston beyond the wedding events, renting a car is a great option for added flexibility. Overall, if you’re mainly coming in for the wedding day, you likely won’t need a rental car.

Things to Do in Houston

We’re so excited to have you in Houston - there’s a lot to explore while you’re in town! Near the Wedding (Museum District)- Visit the Houston Zoo, located right next to our venue. Zoo Lights, the Zoo's Christmas Light event, is especially fun at night.- Stroll through McGovern Centennial Gardens and Hermann Park for a beautiful, easy walk.- Explore the Museum District—Houston has some of the best museums in the country, all clustered together and easy to pop into (perfect if you want something cultural but low-effort). Walks &amp; Outdoors- Walk or bike along the MKT Trail near Eric’s house - great for a casual morning or coffee walk.- Check out Buffalo Bayou Park for skyline views and scenic trails.- Spend time at Memorial Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country, with great trails and green space. Sports &amp; Downtown- Catch a Houston Rockets game at the Toyota Center if they’re in town.- Explore Downtown Houston for bars, restaurants, and a bit of city energy. Food &amp; Drinks- You have to try Tex-Mex while you’re here; queso, margaritas, and fajitas are basically required. We recommend El Tiempo and Lupe Tortilla.- Check out POST HTX for a fun food hall with tons of international options and an awesome skyline view on the rooftop . This is where we got engaged , so it’s a special spot for us!- Grab a drink at Eight Row Flint (Andrea’s favorite happy hour spot), Heights Bier Garten, or Saint Arnold Brewing Company for a classic Houston patio/brewery experience.- Houston is the most diverse city in the U.S., so we also have incredible Vietnamese, Indian, and other international food scenes if you want to branch out. Unique Houston Experiences- Take a drive through River Oaks to see some of Houston’s most beautiful homes - many will still be decorated with incredible Christmas lights.- Visit NASA / Space Center Houston if you want a uniquely Houston experience- though it is about a 30–45 minute drive from central Houston.
